Why Freethinkers are Happier in Europe than in America

Good News: Freethinkers and Deep Thinkers will be Happier in Europe than in America. Here's why:

Freethinkers and deep thinkers tend not to like America, because American culture is predicated on a great deal of fakeness, phoniness, hype, lies and illusion, all of which are pet peeves to deep thinkers, who are able to see through these things. They tend to prefer Europe, where the cultures are more conducive to being intellectual, philosophical and genuine, and the people tend to be more authentic, down-to-earth, friendly and social.

So the good news for freethinkers and deep thinkers is that they will be a lot happier in Europe than in America. They will feel more accepted and validated, and have a far easier time meeting new people, making friends, having fun and getting dates. The reasons are:

1. People in Europe are more open to new ideas, more curious and more attracted to novelty. Being naturally curious, they have a wider variety of interests and are more broad-minded. Thus they will be on a more compatible wavelength with a freethinker. This is true of European females too, who are more open-minded, mature and down-to-earth than in America.

2. Europeans are more apt to having deep conversations about philosophy, history and culture. Believe it or not, having deep philosophical discussions in pubs is normal and common in Europe, whereas in America it would definitely be abnormal and weird to have deep discussions in a bar or pub. Topics such as history and philosophy are common subjects of interest, even in young people. So overall, a freethinker will connect better in Europe and feel more accepted.

3. The social atmosphere is more inclusive, friendly and sociable. People do not live in fear and are not as paranoid of strangers. They are more comfortable and relaxed about meeting new people. They will engage you more easily and make eye contact. Social interaction is much more smooth and natural. Again, this is true with young women too.

4. In Europe, people have richer souls, and are more deep, authentic and down-to-earth. So if you are the same way, you will feel "surrounded by real souls" who seem more alive. Thus you not feel alienated or isolated, even if you are sitting alone and drinking coffee at a cafe by yourself. That's the beauty of it. You are surrounded by your own kind, so the depressing empty feeling you get in America isn't there anymore.

5. Fun activities and cultural events are more frequent and inclusive in Europe. You will have more fun than you ever had in America. There are always cultural events going on around town, even in a small town, and you can always join in, celebrate and party without feeling awkward. There is a feeling of inclusiveness in such social activities that you could never dream of in America. Trust me, I've experienced it and can personally attest to this. You will truly be amazed.

Note: The above attributes of Europe apply to Russia too. However, I do not mention Russia because although it is a very fun, exciting and dynamic country, it is also more dangerous, has a higher crime rate with muggings and scams, and is more of a hassle to get into because you have to buy a visa to enter the country. But Russia is a very exciting and soulful culture, so if you don't mind braving the risks, I would say go for it. :)

One KEY difference between America and Europe is this: In Europe, people do not use dating sites to meet people. I've been told this by multiple sources. Why? Because it's very easy there to just GO OUT and meet people! People are very open, social, curious and engaging. In contrast, in America people are paranoid of others, do not like meeting people, and are afraid to talk to people outside their clique. So you can't really go out and "meet people" or "meet girls", at least not easily or naturally.

What's odd is that there is this cultural myth in America that it is easy to "go out and meet people". Everyone knows deep down that it's not true. But people still pay lip service to it in order to conform and not sound like a loser. It's very weird. There is like this HUGE SPLIT between reality and illusion in America.

You can also tell by European architecture that soulfulness and creativity is much more in their lifeblood, which is why the architecture reflects it. As you can see below, it is not dull or soulless like in America, which is why I feel happier there (besides the fact that women are far more approachable and sociable).

Thanks for reading and best wishes.

  1. I am an intellectual/artistic person and feel I would fit in better in European culture than in American one. This is because here in the U.S. if you don't "conform" into male role of sports obsessed, a workaholic, beer drinking, "bad boy", partying, strip clubs, etc. your wrongly accused of being "gay", a loser, or nerd! And it's worse if your a Black male like me if you don't fit the stereotype of a thug, athlete, or
entertainer. They'll say your "acting white"??!!I understand many Europeans drink and love Football (soccer)too. But, they don't limit their interest and are more open to outsiders. My interactions with some foreign exchange students from Europe and other countries proves that fact.

    1. I have deep discussions at bars in the USA ALL THE TIME, almost every night. maybe you guys just dont fit in wherever you go?
LOL,if your not a workaholic beer drinking bad boy? is that how you see other dudes? why would you come up with things like that. this article is very biased. meaning its one sided. I have learned that when I read things I have to be aware of the bias in it. Its very easy for an uneducated person to become very influenced by things they read without actually stopping to thinking about what they are reading. If you live in the United States you should understand the idea of capitalism, which allows successful people to essentially brag with their success and show off their trophy wife, if you dont understand this you are going to be a struggling american living in poverty. There is no excuse for anyone to no be fairly successful in our country. There are so many opportunities, which is why people immigrate here. Why would you be jealous of the people who work hard and watch sports like normal individuals. As for the dating site thing. As we all use cell phones and texting. the future will essentially be online dating if you really thing about it. we will all be connected on some network some how. its unavoidable so get used to it. the US is just one step ahead of everyone else.

    2. I think you proved his point. You're more interested in providing rationalizations for the status quo and ridiculing criticism of it than anything else.

    3. Yes, he said "Why would you be jealous of the people who work hard and watch sports like normal individuals." LOL. So solely watching sports and being a workaholic is normal. At first I thought he was making decent points, but then he went on to prove the point of the article. However, I do agree that these articles are a little bit simplistic, and over-generalizing, but I think there is always some truth to stereotypes, and as an American, I do think there is something drastically wrong with our culture.

  2. So true my brother as i experienced that in the UK. People were a little more engaging than in the USA. Next time I visit Europe I will head to contnetial Europe where i hear it is more like the article. UK is still Anglosphere but not bad as the USA.

  3. Hi all,
Thanks for your comments. I forgot to add one more reason to the list:

In Europe, it is normal and common to have deep conversations in pubs, whereas in America, it would be abnormal to have deep discussions in bars or pubs. This is an interesting difference.

So I've added it to the article as reason # 2 and updated it.

    1. Thanks Winston, you have made a great observation! I would say it is almost TABOO to have very deep discussions in most places except in a private setting. I think because of this, many of us highly intelligent freethinkers, intellectuals, and creative/artistic types tend to be "shy" among other people in the American cultural/social scene. It seems we can't relax and be our TRUE selves. But yet either others or we to tend to blame ourselves for not "coming out of your shell" " to get out more", or " be sociable". Not to mention us freethinkers may tend to also get bored or can't relate to what the folks around us are discussing (usually it's about work, sports, gossip, etc.) Nothing of real substance or importance!! On the other hand, it seems that most Europeans have deep cultural roots and a rich historical heritage. After all this is where the RENAISSANCE and the ENLIGHTENMENT AGES took place. They seem to be more engaging, more educated, aware of what goes on in the world, and open to new people and ideas.

  4. Walmart got kicked out of Germany. Thank goodness the people wisened up and refused to allow this corporate monster from infiltrating their wonderful country with their low wage and control tactics (mostly by fear) My mothers side is from Germany and I hope to go there soon (I probably won't want to come back to the USA)

    1. Anonymous, I'm glad the people of Germany (as well as the rest of Europe) don't allow for corporations or the bankers to run their societies. Like you I too would wish to return to Germany. This is because I have spent part of my childhood there when my father was serving in the U.S. Army and stationed in that country. And I possibly wouldn't want to return to the U.S.
      myself either!!!

  5. I'm rather familiar with scepcop (I occasionally post on there), but I wasn't aware that you had a website about international dating, and I also didn't know that you had the views you did concerning American women. I live deep in conservative small town America, and I'd have to agree with your comments about many American women (and men) being closed minded. People constantly look for fights when you go out, and as an introverted guy I've found that women in my neck of the woods have little or no interests in anything serious or intellectual. Most women only want to know when American Idol is on, what drama their facebook friends are up to, shopping and games. The men are not much better, with their interests being only in things such as hunting, fishing, cars, overpaid sports figures, fighting, etc. I'm straight, but I'd brought up the latter only to make a point about how narrow minded many Americans are in general.

I'm no gender traditionalist, but it would be nice to have conversation about topics such as the impact of global warming, history, political issues (not yahoo or youtube style), spirituality (without religious bias), endangered animal species, different philosophies, determinism/freewill, etc without ridicule. I'd heard from other sources that European women are much more open minded and personable too. A lady whom I can play a game of chess with after a hard day's work, that sounds good! I'm no academic, and I only have an Associate's level education, but even the college graduates in my area have very rigid interests. I can tell from the comments above that I'm not the only introverted guy who feels out of place 'hanging out' in public mainstream America.

I've been out of school for a while, and I'm trying to refresh just my native language writing skills again since I've been working physical jobs such as welding, machining, repairing electrical systems and similar trades. I did learn some German in high school, but it's been a while since I'd used that langauge last, though I have been studying Spanish on the side these days.

I highly doubt that I would ever be able to go to Europe since I've been struggling just to survive for the past four years after a plant closed down where I made good money at working as an electrician. I have not been able to find like work, nor jobs in fields that I went to school for, and the money I've been making is much less than before. Perhaps someday in the near future I'll give the advice mentioned here a serious go.

  7. Everything he says in this article is true. I hitchhiked around Europe for 4 months (3 months in France , 1 month in Germany) with my girlfriend at-the-time. I wrote an ebook about how to travel Europe for $1.50 a day. The ebook is $17 dollars and guaranteed to save you hundreds, even thousands, or your money back. You can check it out at: http://www.HowtoTravelEuropeCheap.com Currently, I live in NYC and, although the people here tend to be creative, the girls here are usually snobby, paranoid, and judgmental. Most of my friends are from Europe (I'm an actor, and these are the people I get along best with), and 90% of the girls I meet here, who I approach, who are friendly, are from Europe. I plan to return there, and stay. If you've never been to Europe, you need to just go, as soon as possible. If you want to do it on the cheap, get my ebook. You'll thank me. Trust me.

  10. We had a Spanish and a Polish exchange student in our class. For some reason, our topic was to discuss the traits of our ideal romantic partner. The Spanish woman, a tall slim beauty with blond hair, mentioned she wanted a "sophisticated" man who had multiple interests including culture. These two students who were here for only a semester clearly found no students on campus that matched what they were looking for. The Brits hold the opinion that 50% of Americans are dullards or have less than average IQs. Well, I know that's an exaggeration, but you sure couldn't tell judging by our choices of leisure time pursuits.

  11. On average (but some exceptions are there) Europeans tend to be better educated by far as the US educational system is declining drastically as more and more and more tax dollars go into the military industrial complex and thus draining the life blood out of the general economy, and the cultural/political/ideological-wars and fake TV culture (corporate driven too) make all for a VERY toxic environment sccially speaking. I hope to splint nasty North America for a saner continent inthe near future. Thanks to women's lib, the P-W syndrome to to the max in the USA and women are as toxic and unapproachable as ever. They only talk to you if doing business, but do not ever try to approach most American women as you might wind up in their burgeoning prison system as a "sexual predator" because that is the fad today.

  12. In America that kind of architecture would be seen as "childish". Because anything that isn't completely soulless and grey is childish to brainwashed Americans. I truly hate this country. I need to move to Europe.

  13. To the OP and most commentators: THANK YOU!! It's helpful to know I am not alone. I came from an American-German family, and have personally lived all over the US. Compared to many foreigners I know, I am provided with endless examples of culture in the US being self-entitled, arrogant, cold, dull, image-centric, and insecure. While I'm grateful for what I have in CA (thankfully I don't live in any of the major cities, but have been all over the state in many capacities), the culture is just plain awful. You really can't have a curious mindset, or yes, you WILL be ostracized. I just left a legal office (talk about dull cliquish narrow-minded narcissists) for an environmental and scientific office, and the people STILL seem lifeless (just a little less). Things are SO polarized in the US that if you're not an extreme Republican or Liberal, you're practically an enemy. Sure, considering the nuances of INDIVIDUALS, there are exceptions. However, to quote Tommy Lee Jones in the first Men In Black movie: "The person is smart, but people are dumb panicky animals". While I respect a woman's right to say no to a man's advances (I'm a weird, happily married person who works on their relationship), even when I'm with my wife, doesn't matter if I'm polite or cold and business-like, a large percent of CA women have become misandrist fascists. Instead, they become just like their "oppressors", and perpetuate the abuse cycle (as a survivor of both parent's abuse, I challenged myself to not become like them). Every time I try to offer advice on improving themselves, I receive nothing but excuses, followed by justifications as to why I could do it and they can't. The men aren't much better; doesn't matter if you look like a football player, a nerd, or anything else (I'm more attractive than average, but not in a conventional way, and have a healthy average build - without acting like I'm "better than everyone else" because of it). With men, it always boils down to a "what have you done for me lately" attitude. You can tell a lot from the way they drive, too (worst drivers in the country by statistics). When driving in bordering states (AZ, NV, OR), the drivers are better, but the second a vanity-plate CA'n comes along, cut people off as if they're Vin Diesel (even women do this). If I can wager a socio-anthropoligic guess, it mostly boils down to consumerism, war, the media, private sector 1%-ers who buy everyone's loyalty, and redemptive violence which is perpatuated by religious and political fear. I wouldn't be surprised if the current Administration (Trump) is aiming for a dictatorship. Why else would he want to meet with Kim Jong Un? All you have to do is exploit the peoples wedge issues to divide them to aggression, reinforce the loyal, punish those who question, and you've got a cult-like regime. While people in the US will argue any point, it's only to "win" so they don't feel insecure, and it's mostly with circular logic-based manipulation to reduce a person's point, rather than to open their minds and challenge their beliefs. If I hadn't already put down roots here (house, decent job, etc.), I would move to wherever people care more about growing as a person, having deep conversations outside of status quo social norms, questioning existing systems with the aim to improve for the good of all people (because we're all human), instead of greedy entitled hoarding as if we're stuck in the medieval era.
