Introducing SCEPCOP, the world's first organized counter-skeptic group. Back in 2001, I was the first to write a book length treatise debunking 30 primary arguments of pseudo-skeptics against the paranormal and anything that challenged orthodoxy. Much needed at the time, it quickly became hailed in paranormal circles as a comprehensive masterpiece and the first of its kind. And now, as a protest to CSICOP, I've formed SCEPCOP. After all, if the pseudo-skeptics can form organized groups to attack the paranormalists, why can't we form an organized group to attack them too? They are not infallible, but in fact rifled with obvious fallacies and twisted ways of thinking that make no sense. Thus it's justly due that they are exposed.
The Paranormal is one of the most exciting frontiers today. Research into Consciousness, Quantum Physics and Psychic Phenomena, etc. explores venues that may unlock the mysteries of the universe and gateways to other dimensions or levels of reality and consciousness. This provides deeper insights into the larger picture of reality, meaning for our existence and hope for a better future in which humanity's consciousness and awareness are elevated to new heights, transcending greed, lust for power, hatred, violence, ignorance, and the confines of the material paradigm in a competitive Darwinistic world.
However, standing in the way are groups of organized ridiculers, scoffers and attackers masquerading under the term "skeptics" who attempt to suppress anything that challenges their 19th Century scientific materialistic views of orthodoxy. They are debunkers distort, dismiss and obfuscate to get their way. In truth, they are not true skeptics engaging in open inquiry, but selective debunkers who are defenders of orthodoxy. That's why we call them "pseudo-skeptics". A "true skeptic" objectively inquires and seeks evidence, challenging even their own beliefs. But these pseudo-skeptics do anything but. They never question the views of the establishment, materialistic science or anything presented as "official".
These organized pseudo-skeptics have formed public organizations such as JREF (James Randi Educational Foundation), CSICOP (Committee for Scientific Inquiry into Claims of the Paranormal) and many smaller groups. In media reports and programs on paranormal phenomena, these skeptics are presented as the final authorities on the matter and often get the last word. But most psychic researchers have neither the time or interest to debate these debunkers.
So now, it's our turn to form a counter organized group as well. Enter SCEPCOP. As CSICOP was formed to "police the claims of psi" (though they are now called CSI), SCEPCOP now in turn acts to "police the cynicism of pseudo-skeptics". We will debunk all their arguments, revealing their fallacies, inconsistencies, false dogmas posing as "rules of logic" and double standards, showing that they are not objective truth seekers, but biased debunkers defending establishment views, whose minds were made up from the beginning, exposed by their own actions.
Of course, all pseudo-skeptics claim to be true skeptics, just like all high pressured salesmen claim to not be high pressure, all liars and con artists claim to be honest, and all politicians claim to be honest. But as you know, "actions speak louder than words" so the proof of what they are is in their ACTIONS, not words. If a salesman for example, told you "I am not a high pressure salesman" but then proceeds to pressure you to buy his product/service, hounding you without end and not taking no for an answer, then what do you believe, his words or his actions? Likewise, when a self described skeptic tells you that he is a true skeptic, open to evidence, yet he automatically denies, dismisses, ignores and even ridicules ALL evidence that contradicts what he believes or the views of the establishment, then do you listen to his words or his actions? The answer is obvious.
